Mama Bear

Wednesday night was supposed to be Jordan's Christmas performance.  I went to the school to pick her up early from the after school program so she could eat, change into her dress and then be able to get back to school on time for her singing.

When I arrived at the office, Joan called for Jordan, Mandy and I was also picking up Sophie.  I heard Jordan scream, and I thought it was just from the excitement of the day.  I got worried when I didn't hear anything further, and then Joan told Pat Shelby to go out and see what the commotion was outside the office.  By that point, I heard Jordan screaming - constant and blood-curdling.

The principal, Pat Shelby, never went out there.  I got to the door to see Jordan walking towards the office crying and limping.  Mandy is behind her walking and checking back over her shoulder.

Jordan came into the office and collapsed into my arms.  She started rambling that M'cai and M'rice were kicking her. Mandy said that she saw the boys kicking her when she came out of her classroom.

I instantly become so angry that I was only seeing red.  Pat Shelby finally got her ass in gear and went to get the boys.  Jordan and Mandy wrote their statements, gave their information to the Asst. Principal and we left.  I was shaking from anger, and knew that I did not have much time before I snapped.

Ken was just getting home from a hunting trip, and luckily he was at Ermanno's when I sent him a text that Jordan had been attacked.  He finished quickly and started heading home.

I took Sophie home to Kim's and then started to fall apart.  Jordan had ice on her arm from where she was kicked, and I started relaying the story to Kim.  She was pissed off as was I, and she was doing what she could to hold me together.

Apparently, M'rice kicked Jordan in the stomach during kickball, but the SAGE teacher, David, wouldn't listen to Jordan because he "doesn't deal with drama."  This is not the first time I've heard of Jordan complaining about David, but this time, she was physically struck.  After recess, they went back to the classroom, and David left - Jordan assumed to use the bathroom.  Once he was gone, M'rice and M'cai started pushing and kicking her. She ran from the room and they caught her.  M'rice tripped her and kept kicking until Mandy stopped them.  There was no reason for this attack other than they have been harassing her all year for being "a White-ass bitch."  This is 4th grade!!!

Since Jordan doesn't normally bruise, I took pictures of her marks before they are gone:

We spent the evening at the Emergency Room waiting for them to look at her.  She was upset, obviously.  Why did the boys do this to her? Why did they make her miss her performance?  Everything started to ache and she was really uncomfortable.

The doctor said it was just bruising - contusions. He didn't think anything was broken and no x-rays were taken.  He prescribed Motrin for her aches and we were sent home after three hours.  Despite having called for Deputy assistance, one never showed up.  Ken spent the entire time waiting at home for them to arrive, but they didn't even call me until after the nurse called to file the report.

Thursday was spent talking with our attorney, James Kosnett, about the incident.  Ken told him that we definitely want to file against the school district for this, and he is more than happy to do so.  He wants to finish negotiating for Taylor first and get that over with before the District's attorney, Maggie, learns of the new incident.

I was a complete wreck through this evening.  I am sure that the school thought I was just walking away from all of this since we were pulling the girls out of the school anyway, but I just could not say anything.  My anger has not been this out of control in a very long time, and it scared me.  I sent an email to Pat Shelby first thing Thursday morning to let her know more of what Jordan said about the incident. How the boys kept saying they were going to "knock her out" and calling her "bear."  I told the school and the district in this email that this is a Hate Crime and racial especially when reminded that these boys have been calling her names all year and the school did nothing about it.

The School Police finally showed up.  Officer Tony Valencia came, explained the process to us, and took Jordan and Mandy's statements.  I hate that we may never know what becomes of this, but I do believe that we will be able to get a copy of the report as well as information on charges through the attorney.

I am so stunned!  What the hell has happened to our schools?? Why is it acceptable for Blacks to beat Whites and not be considered racist?

All of the girls are now withdrawn from the Apple Valley Unified School District and will be homeschooled through my employer, CAVA effective January 16th.  I am done with the girls being ignored during school, tortured and harassed and unable to defend themselves, and the fact that they do not receive proper instruction because they're not low achievers.  I have no idea how well I will do with the girls home all of the time, but Taylor and Mandy are applying to be volunteers through the Town, and we're looking at having Jordan enter Girl Scouts.

Thursday night, Ken braved our rain storm to cook the quail that he earned.  He had 7 for us to eat since one blew completely apart when he shot it.  The quail was really tasty, and Sean enjoyed the evening with us.
