A few months ago, I caved in and started using Pinterest. I was loathe to use it since it seems like electronic hoarding to me, but I kept seeing really cool ideas posted. I have actually enjoyed what I find there, and most of what I use are the recipes that I find. Oh, my culinary skills have grown!!
So, I made the cookie ice-cream cups that I found on Pinterest. The idea is simple enough, but the technique will take some time to master as pulling the cookies off the muffin backs is not easy. I lose about 3 out of 10 of the cups to breakage. The girls did not seem to mind!!
When I gave Ken's his portion, he was stunned and quiet. I asked him if he was OK with an ice-cream bowl he could eat, and he just said, "Every once in a while, you surprise me." I was stunned. I smiled at him and asked him what he meant. Ken simply said that he knows that I am amazing, and that I give everything that I have to the family, but I never cease to amaze him at some of the things that I try out to just make things a little better every once in a while. Ken went on that after 4 years of marriage, he still finds himself amazed that I am not only real, but his wife, and he loves those moments remembering that this is a great life we have.
Wow!! Ken was surprised by my culinary attempt, and I had my heart filled with so much! Ken never feels that he has a "way with words" but I have all of the cards that he gives me that says otherwise, and when he actually speaks from his heart, I am always blown away.
So, tonight, something that was so simple made a huge difference in the house. It's an amazing gift!
