The weather has stayed crisp during our visit. I actually wish I had brought another pair of long jeans rather than mostly shorts, but I've still enjoyed every moment of being here.
The sun came out first thing this morning. There were still clouds all around, but I get to enjoy a sunny morning at the ocean with coffee.
The morning news was all about the bombing in Boston. Apparently, no one is taking claim for the bombing, so we don't know the who or why yet. Ken and I are concerned that this is just a message especially since we saw a news article a few weeks ago informing Muslim cells to wake up as Jihad was called against America. Hopefully, Boston is an isolated incident & not just the beginning.
Ken saw images of a war zone. As I have only seen the footage of the Middle East, I could only compare it to those images. Ken said I was accurate. America is now an open target, and this scares me. We, as a Country, have been insulated and complacent for so long that we have no idea how to act or behave. To say that we refuse to be victims is fine, but no one really knows how to be vigilant. Our leaders want to disarm us as an unknown threat wants to plant IEDs randomly.
Ken and I continued with our mini-holiday, and I got the much needed relaxation that I desperately needed. It was difficult to ignore the bombing in order to relax, but rather than ignore it, I decided that I would be better relaxing from normal life while discussing and trying to come to terms with the fact that my Country has been terrorized while reconciling it with my own life.
The weather stayed too cold and windy to enjoy life outside too much except for one portion of the afternoon when I was able to sit outside in a tank top and get some sun without freezing. Ken and took a long walk on the shoreline and enjoyed ourselves that way as well.
With relaxing comes the headache that my body has been storing up. These headaches were sharp and instant, but I was able to deal with them with a little meds, but the walk was the best therapy. We have no idea of the distance, but we estimate that we walked for two miles.
Because the winds picked up, we weren't able to enjoy a fire, but we did enjoy cozy time inside. We used FaceTime to chat with the girls again tonight. We do miss them while we're gone, but it is so nice to be able to get away and take a break to allow for recuperation.
