We enjoyed breakfast with Scott Fehr and his daughter. It is always good to see him! Afterwards, Ken and I walked into the Village to pick up a thank you card for Mike. Ken now totally remembers why he doesn't want to live in Akron, but he still loves his hometown.
We met up with Dad at his place. It was so different seeing the farm in winter time. Ken was having horrible flash-backs to his childhood with shoveling snow, milking cows in the snow, etc. I couldn't believe the difference seeing the arena in the summer and now seeing it in winter.
Once Dad was out of his coveralls, we all drove in to Aurora and met Katherine for lunch at Bar Bills. Their beef was great as was their chicken wings. I learned more about my completely insane mother in law over lunch, but I'm afraid I'll never hear the end of this one: apparently, she truly thought that she was "chosen" and Kenny was the next Messiah. As a child, he was told that Dad wasn't his Dad and he had to call him "Ken" because God was actually his father. Oh crap!! I laughed so hard at that one!! Dad choked on my smart-ass comment about how it now makes sense why Kenny demands me to spend so much time on my knees worshipping him. HeeHee.
I loved seeing this sign over the bar:
After lunch, we went for some actual coffee and then a cupcake. The coffee shop was Taste and the "cupcakery" was Swirls. Both were good. Katherine really liked using me as her excuse to get a cupcake, and I was happy to help.
We walked off the sugar and went to the 5 and 10 down the street. Vidlers was an enormous place! They had a ton of stuff and it was great fun for me to walk around and look at everything. I found great gifts for the girls and a little something for me, and then we want back to Akron.
I was extremely happy to take off the long johns for the last time. I have no intention of wearing them on to the airplane when we go home. Dad came over for a beer and to visit the last bit.
We're always sad to say goodbye, but we are ready to go home.
