Happy Birthday Ken

Today is Ken's 41st birthday. Since we had to be in Akron, we were able to celebrate with his sisters, Laura and Katherine, Tom, Dad and Kayla. Our first thing - coffee!! While I was getting him a cup, I was stunned at the change in the scenery out of Mike's window from the snow overnight. Wow!
What a difference a couple inches makes!! Ken was right though - I was already starting to miss the sun. It's weird not seeing it for days on end.

Ken and I headed over to Laura's house, and I enjoyed getting to see her new place.  Of course, Ken had to get the snow off the car before we could leave.
Katherine joined us and then Dad. We spent time chatting and discussing life over some really great Buffalo Wing Dip. I was so glad that Laura let me scan the recipe!!

I walked outside and enjoyed the quiet and serenity of Laura's property. Even I could see some deer tracks in the snow, and I found it really cool to see them. I enjoyed the panoramic feature on my phone for this picture.
We enjoyed lunch out at Hayes Seafood in Clarence. The food was really great. I made the mistake of kissing Kayla after she had touched some of her Mama's crap legs, so I had a small reaction, but it was containable. It was fun to watch Kayla work the room. She definitely enjoyed all of the attention.
After lunch, we returned to Laura's and everyone chatted and bitched about life - well, the bitching was mostly about Diane, but we also discussed the stupid gun laws between our two states. Tom's statement was the best! He was so upset about some of the gun laws that he wanted to "punch Baby Jesus in the face."  Yeah, even Ken and I choked on our drinks over that one. Holy crap!!

I was very amazed at Kayla's toys. Who knew that caviar and crackers was a kids' meal and was to be included in a play kitchen!
I was able to get a picture of Ken with his sisters:
And then Kayla had to say "cheese" as well:
We stayed and talked until late. Laura just about turned into a pumpkin before we left.  We were able to get over to Sam's house to visit with her for a little while.

Samantha is such a doll!! She not only remembered Ken's birthday, but she was the one to provide him with a cake!  Yay for Sam!!

Ken and I went back to Mike's to crash. We were so tired, and yet we knew that we had more to crunch into our last full day and wanted to be sure that we got some rest. We wish we would have had more time for an actual visit, and the cost of this trip was extreme and still chapping Ken's ass, but it has been a good one.
