Jordan's trials

I have seriously tried to pawn Jordan's behavior as "I don't know where she gets it from" with a surprised expression on my face.  Unfortunately, Ken has met many of my childhood friends and now understands that I am raising a child who is just like her Mama.

OK, so deep breath here.  It was a long weekend, and since Jordan was home, it was made longer.  For the most part, we enjoyed each other's company.  The girls had my direction to pull all the dirty clothes out of the corners and from behind the bed as well as pick up the trash off the floor.  It's amazing!  Their room is not hovering in a magical manner - there is a floor!!  Laundry was going all weekend, and the girls are amazed that they actually DO have something to wear.  I'm still trying to figure out the mystery of missing socks, however.  If someone finds an extra, say, 26 pairs of socks lying around.  Let me know because they all walked away from my house.

Ok, another deep breath.

Then, Jordan decides to cut her hair - AGAIN!  I mean, she just cut her hair a month ago.  I had her hair cut just before school so she would have a cute 'do for the first day of school and then this:

I mean, REALLY!  COME ON!!!!  I just don't have the nerves or the strength to keep up with her and she's only 6!  I really should be winning, but I'm not.  I still maintain that I know that Jordan will turn out OK, but I don't think I'll live to see it.  She's going to kill me with this stuff!  What you don't see are the chunks taken out from the back.

Now, I did try to co-parent with her father, but he refused to acknowledge that she is old enough to not do this to herself and insists that I lock up all the scissors before she's cuts off a finger or something, and he maintains that he will hug her and help remind her that her hair will grow back.  So, there's no support there for disciplining her for cutting her hair - AGAIN.  Seriously, she know's it's going to grow back. This is the 4th time she's cut it.

I would like to interject that even Ken did not know what to say or do this time.  His input was to take his clippers and shave her head.  Yes, even the saint-like Ken was pushed to his limit by Jordan over the holiday weekend.

So, Mama took scissors and cut her hair.  Jordan was mortified when she saw all of the hair on the ground.  It looked like we had a nest of rats running around our patio.  She was outraged that I would take a picture of her, but I did.  She thought that if she cried hard enough and made her face all "splotchy" that I wouldn't do it.  Nope!  Mama was past her levels!

I did take her to the Barber shop and she used her Tooth Fairy money to pay for a trim.  She was happy with the fix, but she absolutely hates having her hair so short.  I keep reminding her that she cannot cut her stinkin' hair anymore.  She swears she's learned her lesson, but time will tell.

My friend, Jeff, says that it looks like she's assembling her minions to deal with me!
So, Tuesday morning rolls around.  I'm excited because the girls are going back to school and then I will not have to listen to the fighting and the squawking, etc.  Ken comes home from picking up Taylor for her dental appointment, and he hands me this:

When Jordan came home, I had the wonderful yellow referral note to sign.  My only consolation is that she waited to be completely disruptive until the 2nd week of school!

At first glance, the paper seems harmless and then you notice the poop coming out of the bear.  OK, funny, but shouldn't be a problem.  Then I realize that her teacher wrote the problem - she not only drew the poop, but showed it off in class creating a non-teaching environment.  While as a teacher, I am disturbed by my child's behavior, as a Mama, I'm ticked off that she is the one in trouble when the teacher admits that she had a ton of time and was bored.  If you know that my daughter is going to finish early, have something else ready for her to do!

Ugh!  Of course, then we go back to my child who just can't seem to help herself.  Her classmates were working hard and needed a "laugh."  I asked her if she thought it was funny she got to spend time in the principal's office - AGAIN.  Jordan said she didn't like it, and she promises to behave.

Um, not holding breath here.  I will say, I did laugh about the bear pooping though.
