Ken turned 38!

For those of you new to this adventure, I take all celebrations in this house VERY seriously!  When Ken was first diagnosed with a reoccurant brain tumor in October 2008, we were told that he would not live very long.  The prognosis was "up to 5 years was possible."

So, with that being said, Ken turned 38 yesterday!  The girls had everything planned, but I, of course, was the lucky one who ran all of the errands and paid for everything.  Ken spent the entire day trying to figure out what the girls had planned.  He was thrown off when two of their friends showed up to stay the weekend, so Ken thought they invited only their friends.  When I picked up the party platters and had enough dip and chips to feed a small army, Ken started to realize that people were heading over.

I failed to get a good picture of Martin.  The only picture that I managed to take of him was incredibly blurry, so I have not included it in this blog.  However, you can see next that Ken, ML and Julia were enjoying one of Martin's stories:
The girls got to the fruit platter first.  Notice that all but 2 of the strawberries are gone:
We enjoyed the conversation - everyone agreed that we hadn't laughed that long in a long time.  Everyone had to plug their ears, however, when the girls started screaming "Happy Birthday" and ML and Julia decided to sing completely away from key.

For the sake of the poor fire department, I did not put all 38 candles on the cake; I simply put three on one side and eight on the other.  ;)

The girls tried to get me to pay to fly in his BFF (Mike) as well as his family from New York, but that just wasn't possible.  HeeHee.  Ken had a great time, and we all went to bed with stomachs hurting from laughing and enjoying each other's company!

Happy Birthday my Darling!
