Things I am NOT used to - leaving work and seeing horses in the pasture next to the school. I also am not used to seeing older kids ride their horses to the school to pick up the younger siblings. It's very weird to me, but it happens all of the time.
Another new thing for me - a convection oven!!! We got rid of the electric range and oven - which I am completely thankful for! I was really loathing cooking on an electric range. It takes, seriously forever to cook on those. I do not understand why anyone has them here especially since natural gas is so cheap!! Because we hit the Labor Day sale at Sears, we were able to upgrade to the five burner AND I now have a convection oven. Talk about Snoopy Happy Dancing!! Ken had no idea why I wanted one, and I attempted to explain the difference with baking. All he heard was that the things I bake that he loves will get done better and more quickly. Haha.
Now, we had spent the last week in shorts and tank tops, but on this particular morning, we woke up to this stuff:
This white stuff is apparently called "Frost." It is wet, hard and very slippery. It accompanies really, really cold temperatures as well which I was slightly unprepared for. Oddly enough, the temperatures went back into the 80s just a couple days later, so I'm not sure how I'm going to be prepared for the winter if I don't get practice first.
