Family and friends

We have had a great time visiting with friends and family. Luckily, Dad took the entire time off from work, so we had plenty of time to see him, and hang out.  We tried to get out to see Uncle Jimmy, but he was kept in the hospital longer than they anticipated, so we decided to hold off and let him rest.

Dad insisted on educational trips, but the girls enjoyed themselves anyway.

More and more ice cream!!  We learned that New York's idea of a
single scoop and ours is very different!

Nothing like the fun of a cardboard box

Scott couldn't believe that Jordan did not know how to ride a bike. So he tried teaching her....at night.....in the dark......in the street.....after drinking.  Hahahahaha!
Jordan loved Tammy Messinger and Kai.  She loved hanging out at their house, and Tammy woke up to find Jordan on her floor - in her bedroom
Ken and Michael Donovan - The Bromance continues!

Mandy had to finish her homework after being air sick the first day.  It was "boring" for her to get stuck home working while everyone got to go play, but she got it done, and the work was ready to turn in.
We had to return to Niagara-on-the-Lake, of course.  The girls were finally able to look in the shops and check things out.  They are not into the shopping, so it was not as much fun for them as I would have liked, but they did enjoy the novelty of it all.

Their favorite part was spending the time with Grandpa!

Jordan did not know what this box was.  We told her to go ahead and go inside and check things out.  Really?  We tend to forget how things have changed.
Taylor was finally able to have some ice-cream from "her" store.
Lunch at Angel's Inn.  It was very British and a ton of fun to check things out.

 More and more ice-cream!

The girls completely balked at the idea of checking out the Fort.  They felt that this was too much education for a fun trip, but since we missed the ceremonies at Ft. Niagara for the War of 1812 celebration, the adults agreed that we had to go here.

Everyone was in period clothing, and it was great to see the buildings restored.

I really wish we hadn't been the last group of the day. I would have enjoyed hearing more especially from this woman.  She really brought history to life.  Suddenly, the girls were interested in the "old stuff" and enjoying her presentation of it.  It was great to hear the "other side" of the War of 1812 especially since this time in US History tends to be such a small portion of the history books.

Jordan was allowed to "touch History" by our guide
If you know me, then you know how much I would love this writing desk!!
Despite my telling her no, the guide told Jordan to enjoy history and don't worry about breaking anything. "History is supposed to be learned, felt and absorbed."

We decided that we had to go back to the Falls for the girls to see it again.  Apparently, there is no more wonder nor appreciation for it.  Jordan quickly asked if they could leave.  I told her that it was Nature's Wonder, and she commented that it hasn't changed since the last time they were here, so what was the point?  Bwahahahaha!
