Waiting for the Madness

A few days ago, a man named George Zimmerman was acquitted of murder charges for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. This incident took place in Florida, and some jurors said that they wanted to find Zimmerman guilty, but under the Law, they couldn't. That summed it up pretty well for Len and me, but apparently, it wasn't enough for the Black community throughout the United States.

There is a poster going around Facebook that says, "Only in Obama's America does a Brown man shoot a Black man and the White man gets blamed." Seems correct given everything we have seen and heard on the news since the verdict was read.

For me, the tensions has increased and has become like the LA Riots after the acquittal of the four officers for the Rodney King Beating in the 1990s. Unfortunately, I was correct and we found ourselves faced with looting and rioting in Victorville tonight.

Throughout California, there are protests planned and being held. Freeways and roads are being closed by the throngs of people protesting. Theft and looting is rampant while the media claims "it's just a few."

I do not understand what is happening. When it was reported that Martin was shot, President Obama went to the media professing this was horrible injustice and saying " If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon." Instantly, the races and classes in this Country were divided further.

Immediately, Zimmerman was being touted in the media as a White Man, but then we learned he is half White and half Hispanic. Oddly enough, he is still reported as a "White Hispanic." The President is half White and half Kenyan, but he is called African-American. How does this work??

We listened to the reports on the news of the rioting that took place tonight. The protest was scheduled ad planned to start at the Mall of Victor Valley and go to Victor Valley College. Ken and I immediately starting making preparations since the College isn't too far from our home.

Luckily, the rioting stayed near the mall. Michael Gallagher was at the Vallarta market near the mall wen things started and he was confronted, called names, threatened and harassed. He called us to tell us to stay home and make sure the kids were all home because it was escalating quickly.

By 11 pm, 14 arrests had been made, the Mall was reopened after its lockdown an life seems to have returned to normal.

Things have gotten completely out of hand. Being "racist" is now only something White people are - Blacks apparently are incapable of being racist. The Divide that we face in America has been exasperated by the Government. Our Department of Justice is actually contemplating filing Federal charges against Zimmerman despite being found Not Guilty in a state court. How does Double Jeopardy not apply here??? Why does this one incident provoke so many to feel they have a law degree but the thousands killed on the street of Chicago doesn't even register on the media's Richter Scale??

I am so disappointed in our Officials and their handling of this issue and so many more. I am proud of my local Sheriff's Department and Highway Patrol for doing what was necessary to maintain order. I am also grateful for an amazing husband who knew what to do and prepared. He also kept the girls calm through it all while not shielding them from the truth.

It was really cool to see him and Jordan at the of the night.
