Spring Break

Today is the first official day of my Spring Break. I am so grateful and happy to have the opportunity to wake up this morning at the Del Mar Resort on Camp Pendleton. I was hoping for sunshine and a tan, but so far it's been overcast. It really doesn't matter though. I'm listening and smelling the ocean, there are no girls fighting and carrying on...... I may actually get the R & R that I need to return to myself and not the crazy bitch woman that I had become the last couple of weeks.

Ken and I were able to sleep in.  I vaguely remember this phenomenon - sleeping in. It's rather nice, and I recommend it to everyone.

We spent time wandering around at the MCX this afternoon getting all of the fun stuff that we can't find off-base - or purchasing the items we really like off base for ridiculously low prices.  I have learned that you need to know what you're shopping for or you can spend a ton of money at the MCX. Pendleton has a very large MCX now near the Del Mar Resort. They have a lot to be desired in their shooting sections which is very oxymoronish to me, but Ken was able to get some wicking shirts and pants that he needed for far less than we had found anywhere else. Score!

The entire plan for this stay was to relax and not stress.  Therefore, supper was out on Base - today we were able to try Chronic Tacos. The prices were extreme and the food was not as good as what we get at home. We were, however, able to learn about and see the footage from today's bombing on their big screen TVs.  Oh holy hell!!  What a mess the Boston Bombing is. I watched the entire thing over and over again, and all I could think about was how it looked like a seen from the Gaza Strip and not somewhere in the US.

Keeping with the idea of no stress, supper was cheese and crackers with wine. The weather was cold, but the fire made it possible for a drink and a cigar.
