Um, it's her birthday and she's crying?? Something isn't right! When I asked her why she was upset, Jordan said, "Because I was supposed to turn 8 today, but it says that my birthday has to be in two...more...days!!" What??
Then it hits me! When I made this year's calendar, I made a huge mistake. I was rushing and trying to get everything done, and I put Jordan's birthday on the 4th of April rather than the 2nd because I used the number of her month.
Holy crap! I started laughing hysterically, which of course did NOT help Jordan's mood at all. I pulled her into my lap, and I calmly informed her that while I would love to put off their birthdays so they could stay my little girls, having the date wrong in the calendar did not mean that their birthday was moved.
Jordan immediately stopped crying, sat up straight as a rocket and then was all smiles. She started bouncing around the house, "It's my birthday! It's my birthday!" And off to school she went.
Jordan finally got her birthday sundae and was as happy as she could be!!
Post-script: Jordan got horribly sick to her stomach that evening from the copious amounts of sweets that she had. She didn't tell us about the treats she had a school from her teacher, the Staff and her friends for her birthday or we would have stopped her from eating that WHOLE sundae. She spent the night sucking down Pepto-Bismal in the hopes that her poor tummy would start to like her again.
