Superbowl Sunday

This morning, Ken took off early in order to go to the Gun Club for the Quail Forever Trap Shoot.  No one else could run the trap event, so he had to do it.  He was out of the house by 7:30 am, and I barely remember telling him I loved him.  Sadly, he begged and bribed the girls to let me sleep, and I did - until 8:15.  Whoo-hoo for me!  You would think that I would have slept longer, but that stupid internal clock that was programmed into me during my surgery is making me a fricken' morning person!!!  Frustration!

The girls and I had a quiet morning.  I am so not looking forward to returning to work tomorrow, and I want and need to be as relaxed as possible.  We watched the next installment of Harry Potter together, and I was very happy when Ken was returning home.  It's incredible how much I miss him.  I knew where he was, I knew he was having fun, I was capable of being by myself, but I hated being without him.

So, Ken returns home, and Taylor and Mandy have to start on their Science Projects.  No, seriously, they had to get started.  The school sent home a notice giving them 9 days to do a Science Project.  Now, I teach high school, and we give our students over 30 days for theirs, so I have to assume that the elementary school expects their students to do a poor job.

Taylor had her experience from last year, so she did fairly well getting motivated once she picked her subject, and figured out her plan.  Mandy, on the other hand, went into Mandy Meltdown Mode and turned into Beaker.  There were about 25 minutes where only the dog could hear her talking.  After a cool-down period, she was better and able to get to work.

Ken and I settled in to watching the Superbowl game.  We were excited since it was New York Jets against the New England Patriots.  Now, Ken would have preferred for his Bills to be there, and I would have preferred the Panthers, but at least there was a New York team to root for.

The game was intense!!!  The entire game was just a touchdown away, and most of the second half was only a two point difference to the Patriots.  In the 4th quarter, the Giants made a touchdown but missed the two point conversion, so the Patriots tried like hell to get their touchdown in 57 seconds.  They made it to the 48 yard line and lost.  The final score: 21-17!  Ken was literally on the edge of his seat for the entire last quarter!!  I was excited as well, but not like he was.  He really wanted New York to win.  Considering we hadn't followed football all season, it was testament to how amazing that game was - you could not help but get sucked in!

Once the game was over, it was amazing how much we needed to relax.  Taylor was actually done with her Science Project and only needed to glue her information to her board.  She got some great pictures of herself, and I will get them printed tomorrow so she can put them on her board.  Mandy managed to get everything done up to her experiment.  Her experiment required the sun, so she will have to wait until after school to get it finished.  I see a long Monday night before me........
 The girls completing their research
 Taylor conducting her experiment
 Mandy is still researching

Taylor's experiment was about how to clean pennies
