I have been killing myself trying to prepare to take the LSAT. This is a test that Law Schools will look at when determining Admissions along with GPA, reference letters, etc. Since this is a completely different skills set for me, I thought I would get some help.
The prep books were horrible! With having a family, I found that it was taking far too much for me to concentrate. I took a Diagnostic test and got a 143. The test is scored out of 180, so that wasn't too bad but I keep hearing that Ivy league schools won't even look at your application if you don't have a 170 or higher. Well, 143 is a long way from 170.
Now, while I may not be Harvard material or even thinking about it, I want to be sure I get accepted, so a 170 goal line is acceptable.
In talking to some of the "kids" who were my tour guides at some of the school tours, I chose to go with Blueprint Prep for the LSAT prep class. There isn't a class near me, but they had an online version. I am SO glad that I went with them. Not only are they breaking things down for me, but it's not so boring that I want to stab myself with a pencil. In fact, most of the comments are hysterical.
Take Matt, for instance. He was explaining the 4 different types of groupings & used the analogy of a relationship. Rather than "beginning, love, honeymoon", etc., he used "stalking, love, etc". Hahaha.
I may not be getting through the lessons like I need to for my december test date, but I'm enjoying the learning process.
