Ken was trying for weeks to figure out exactly which iPad I wanted. I kept going over the first version with the second, looking at the Wi-Fi versus the 3G, etc. He kept telling me that he knew I really wanted the iPad and that I would probably never be able to afford it on my own with my "allowance" since I had committed to so many things as it was, so he spent time with me looking at iPads and he said he started to see why I wanted one. Ken feigned interest in purchasing one with me in his attempt to get me the perfect gift.
Apparently, Ken was starting to get frustrated the week before my birthday, so he marched into the bathroom while I was taking a bath, and he started to really push about which iPad I wanted since he really wanted one as well. I told him that the Wi-fi would be fine, and since he really wanted one now as well, why not take the money from our savings and we could pay it back? Ken started to get frustrated with me, which was a clue that something wasn't right. I asked him what was bothering him so much, and he just couldn't find a way to keep the surprise. So he told me that the he and the girls decided on the iPad2 for me - the girls were each putting $50 from their savings accounts and Ken was taking care of the rest so that I could have one. I immediately felt bad that I had asked, but Ken felt worse. Since the surprise was "ruined" he took Mandy and went and found my gift. I barely had time to get dried off before the girls were surprising me with my birthday gift - which was a week early and totally cool!!
When my actual birthday was finally here, Ken and the girls had worked hard to clean the house and get everything in order. I had asked Eduardo from the Gun Club to cater the party (his store is Taco Chon which is delicious). I expected 30 people, but about 15 showed up. Ken was in charge of being the photographer, but he was having way too much fun visiting with everyone.

The party was a BLAST, and everyone had a great time. My childhood friend, Michael Harris, showed up around 10 pm which completely surprised me. I was so glad that he made it to the party - especially since we joked around that he had missed my 9th birthday party. What a treat for me!! We had planned on Mike Gallagher staying over (he had already been at our place for a couple days visiting), and we had a few others stay the night due to drinking. I had a great time, and loved celebrating the last of my 30s with so many great friends.
