Trip home

I had wanted to get on the road early, but we just couldn't drag our butts out of bed.  It turned out to be a really great thing as we were able to have breakfast with Rosie, Katie and Jessica.  The guys all took off to do some river rafting, but we managed to enjoy spending time with these great women.  We were so bummed that we had to leave, but it had to be done.

Ken and I decided that we would break up this drive in order to keep ourselves from losing our minds.  We enjoyed the scenery this time, but I was still in disbelief that it was snowing on May 31st!  We weren't sure we liked the idea of having the girls out of school for another day, but I rationalized it in my teacher's head that it was after Testing, so they weren't missing very much.  Ugh - it killed me to have them miss school again, but there was no way Ken and I could make the drive home in one stretch.

I made sure to get the pictures that I wanted of our drive through Colorado.  Everything was beautiful and so different from our desert home.

The tunnels through the mountains amazed me!
Really, they ran out of names??

The girls did really well on the drive.  The weirdest thing I saw was Fruita, Colorado which touted itself as "Home of Mike the Headless Chicken Festival."  This was so odd to me, and thank god for internet cell phones.  I was able to pull up the information, and was amazed at what I found.

After going through all of the same stops, we finally pulled into St. George, Utah for the night and enjoyed some sleep.

The following morning, we headed into Nevada.  We stopped at Nellis AFB in order to do some shopping, and then it was Vegas, baby!!  I just could NOT go through Vegas without stopping at Margaritaville.  The girls thought it was going to be a total waste of time since their Daddy C apparently told them that Vegas was "boring" but they had a great time!  The girls did not want to leave and made us promise to bring them to Vegas for a family vacation.
The girls were starting to get restless after we left St. George

I had to get Ken back for the driving pictures he took of me
I was a complete ass and took pictures of myself at Margaritaville to send to my teacher friends who were slaving away.

There is NOTHING better than the Volcano Nachos!!

OK, the Perfect Margarita is better than the nachos, but not by much!

Jordan loved the doors and kept going round and round!

The trip was long, and despite how much fun we had on this trip, we were so very glad to pull into our driveway!

The total mileage of this trip!
