Friday in Denver

After 5 hours of sleep, Ken and I managed to find semi-human status. We called Robb and asked what the plans were for the day.  We were able to get cleaned up in time to get to the wedding venue location and met up with everyone.

The Stonebrook Manor is incredibly beautiful.  We tried not to interrupt anything that was going on, but it was so great to see Robb again, and then I was able to see Aunt Rosie and Uncle Jack.  I finally met Jessica's mom, Diana, after being Facebook friends for a while.  It was incredibly surreal to watch Ken with his family - and this is family that he hasn't seen in a long time...over 20 years.

We watched the rehearsal and then visited with family for a few minutes, and then we went to Robb's house to wait for everyone to get ready for the Bachelor and Bachelorette parties.

Ken went off with Robb, Uncle Jack and the men.  I hung around with Aunt Rosie and Marina while we waited for Jessica's mom, Diana to arrive with the baby sitter.  The three of us had a great time talking and getting to know one another.  I got caught up with their lives, and heard some of the stories that Ken had told me, but in their entirety.

We hitched the ride with Diana and went to downtown Denver to go to the Keghouse for supper. By the time we got there, the tables were full, so we sat at the very end. Rosie, Marina and I continued with our conversation as Jessica's friends were not very inviting of outsiders.  I was totally cool with it, and I had a great time listening to the other women's stories.  Secretly, I was laughing my ass off at most of them, but I did a good job hiding it.

My favorite moment of this evening was when one of Jessica's bridesmaids, Amber, started talking to Marina. I didn't give a rat's ass that she interrupted my conversation to do so as I was happy someone was including Marina.  Amber asked Marina when Rosie was, and Marina answered, "She's poopin.'"  Hahahaha.  That was the last time Amber spoke to us.

I texted Ken to be sure that he was having a good time.  I had no doubt, at all, that he was.  I knew that I would be jealous of the Bachelor party - men having a good time and no one being snobby - which is exactly what happened.  They went to the ballgame and then did some bar hopping afterwards.  The end of the night found the typical male-bonding experience during which Ken apparently got his share of attention.  LOL

The filet mignon that I had was decent, but everything was really salty.  I didn't bother with complaining when I learned that everyone's food was like that since that was obviously how the restaurant cooked its food.  Unfortunately, a couple of the women made a scene about their suppers and got comped.  I would have taken it away from the bride, but that's just me.

So, we walk over to a piano bar where everyone breaks into their little groups.  At this point, I'm having a great time watching Jessica get plastered.

Diana and Rosie were ready to leave, and I was very happy about that.  I just wanted to get the girls back to the hotel room and sleep.  Running on 4 hours of sleep made me cranky and unable to fully appreciate the situation and take advantage of it. We were ready to go, and then Jessica informed us that the Penis Cake was ready.  OK, I could not wait to see a penis cake!

OK, it was a shortcake with penis candles.  Not what I expected, but it was fun to watch Jessica's face and reaction.  She had a great time playing with the candles!

On the walk back to the car, I enjoyed seeing some of the Denver nightlife.  I only managed to get one picture, but it was still cool.

I paid the sitter and then got the girls back to the hotel room.  They were exhausted and fell immediately asleep.  Taylor is in her judgmental stage, so she was very disappointed to learn that Daddy was not coming back to the hotel with us.  I tried to explain the concept of a Bachelor party and that he was having fun with the guys, but she just didn't get it.  Oh well.  One day she will understand.
