Family Time!

Ken was awake long before I was the next morning and he surprised me by walking into the hotel room as I was just getting out of bed.  I'm not one to sleep, but apparently, all that driving really took life out of me.

He told me about some of their shenanigans from the night before.  I laughed at his stories and had a great time listening to the fun he had.  It was even more fun to hear about his Uncle Jack and Chris and getting to know them a little better through the stories.

I got cleaned up and told Ken that we already had a plan for today.  He laughed at me because he had made the joke the night before that he was sure everything would be set and he would just be told where to go.  Ken did tell me that all of the other men were very jealous of Ken's wife.  Apparently, I was the only understanding wife about the men staying out and having a good time.

Aunt Rosie picked me up and we went to lunch together.  She also helped me with exchanging some shoes and getting a pedicure.  She had some errands to run which she got done while I was being pampered with the pedicure - I so love that time!  Now that I had pretty toes, we headed back to Robb's house.  It was time for the family BBQ!

Ken, the girls and I were right at home.  There was nothing we could really do to help, but Ken worked on helping with some of the actual BBQing until they got the extra grill and propane going.

I had a great time getting to know everyone.  John's daughter, Katie, was there as Aunt Rosie and Jack made sure to bring her.  All of the children had a blast that they had so many cousins and they lost their minds with having so many playmates.  Unfortunately, everyone is so far away from each other, that we're going to have to figure something out.

Katie had the best time with Ken.  He loved having the attention as well.  At one point, Jordan asked why he was still holding Katie.  Ken replied, "Cause she's still cute" at which Jordan threw a full-blown temper tantrum stating that she is still cute and "everyone knows it!"  This just got everyone laughing.

It was great fun to get to know Jessica's closest friends and her family well.  I loved how all of the family mixed and mingled so well.  There was no one trying to take the lead or over power the other side - it was everyone working together so Robb and Jessica's wedding would be perfect!  I loved seeing that!

By the end of the evening, Ken was hammered. One of the "Jasons" - we used this term because there were 5 just in the wedding party, was buying Crown Royal, and Ken thought that he had to keep drinking it.  By the end of the night, Ken was sitting sideways in the chair in the garage.  Apparently, Jason McMullen spooned Ken at the bachelor party, so he kept referring to Ken as his 'bitch.'

I managed to get Ken back to the hotel room, and it was a lot of work to get him into bed. He was perfectly happy to sleep on the bathroom floor, but I knew he would hate his back pain the next day if he did.  Ken kept telling me how happy he was that I made this trip possible - he loved seeing his family and loves them SOOOOOOO much.  I just kept laughing. The girls, however, were traumatized to see Daddy drunk.  They knew he wasn't acting like himself and were a bit scared.  I asked them if he was being mean, and they all agreed that he was really happy, but it was "weird."

At 12:30, we got a phone call.  I was seriously going to kill whoever it was, but it was Jason McMullen inviting his bitch to meet them downstairs in the bar for more drinks and the pizza that was on the way.  I explained that Ken was in a coma, so he invited me. What the hell - the girls were sleeping, so I got dressed and went down there.

We had a great time!  We totally shut down the bar and then kept talking.  Mark and Kristen (Jason's girlfriend) went to bed shortly after I got there, but I had a great time talking to them all and getting to know them.  I managed to help get Jason to his floor and then hoped he would make it to his room.  I collapsed into bed knowing that we were getting up early to meet up with those three in the morning for a city tour.

Again, I was thinking of how great it was that the friends and family of Robb and Jessica were all so great and that everyone got along.
