The night before, I hard boiled the eggs and let the girls do their decorating. Jordan wasn't feeling well that night, but she made it through. Initially, the girls were upset because I didn't have the traditional dipping coloring, but I found a really cool set with paint and a baggy for marbleizing the eggs.
Can you tell she didn't feel well? I've never seen such a fake smile before. |
Once the eggs were colored, the girls took their showers and then climbed into bed. It took a while for them to actually go to sleep due to their excitement, but they managed. Jordan, unfortunately, appeared to get a stomach bug. She was really sick for most of the night, but thankfully, she was magically cured by morning. Of course, I totally think it had everything to do with the fact that convinced Daddy to carry her to bed because she didn't feel good.
"Daddy, I don't feel good. Will you carry me to bed?" |
Plastic eggs were used this year by the Easter Bunny, so they were out in the yard as expected in the morning rather than having to be hidden by Mama and Daddy as usual. The girls initially hated the idea, but they got to be so competitive during the hunt, that it no longer mattered.
After all of the eggs were found, the girls realized that there were surprises in the plastic eggs and suddenly, this was such a cool idea! Some of the eggs had coins, but most had extra candy. The girls spent the remainder of the day going through their baskets and gorging themselves on candy.

OK, Ken loved the pooping candy dispensers! |

Gotta show Daddy everything! |
Poor Addie just wanted a taste - unfortunately, she chose the chalk |
Once the girls had settled down, Ken and I were able to take a few minutes to just ourselves. The girls were watching movies, eating candy and playing, so I made a tray of cheese, crackers and sausage and poured some wine.
After the sugar highs had worn off, the girls were suddenly VERY hungry. I attempted to make some deviled eggs to snack on, but the eggs apparently did not hardboil all the way through. Damn! Nothing like wasting 3 dozen eggs. Ugh! Supper was really good, and I was shocked that Mandy was excited that I was making the green beans that she likes - she ate a lot of them!
Thank goodness for a tripod and a remote control. I am actually in the pictures!! It took a few tries to get Taylor and Jordan situated, but we finally had a decent "family meal" picture. Of course, this is nothing for Better Homes and Gardens since we're still in jammies or just-showered, but it's our Family and this is our Easter!
