Thanksgiving Day

Friends are the family that you choose.  I don't know if that's an actual quote, but it always sticks in my head, and it's always appropriate for me.  I don't have any blood family left in my life, and Ken's family is all out of state - mostly on the East Coast.  We are so blessed and thankful to have the friends that we do, and we love hanging out with Cyn and Josh.

Cyn has an amazing talent, not only for her cooking but also for her decorating.  When we arrived, the house was set up for appetizers and football.  I think what was most enjoyable was that Cyn was able to sit down and visit with everyone for this party.

Another friend of hers, Mary Ellen, was able to make it and Mary Ellen and I were put to work to help get supper prepared and ready.  I was happy to take directions to set the table and get things organized, but the cooking was done by Cyn.

All in all, we had a great day.  We relaxed, talked, had a great time and enjoyed time with friends.  The kids all had a blast with each other and played until they could barely keep their eyes open.  The day was relaxing - despite our drive - and we simply enjoyed ourselves.  We ate until we were completely stuffed and then had a piece of pie on top of it all.

At the end of the evening, we women were laughing about how we used to have to walk with a book on our heads to work on our posture.  Josh and Ken had never heard of such a thing, so we had fun demonstrating.  Mary Ellen laughed when she took 2 steps and the book fell.  Cyn was able to walk forwards, but lost the book when she turned.  I was the show-off who kept the book the entire time.  I seriously thought it would fall off quickly.  Apparently, my posture is better than I thought.  I managed to snap a photo of Leena trying to emulate us while Cyn showed off how well she could sit.

Josh and Cyn tried to convince us to stay the night, but since Jackass wouldn't budge on the exchange location, Ken and I decided it would be best to head home late at night and skip the traffic.  We hated leaving, especially since I was going to miss seeing Keri Lamb (from high school) and her family.

My favorite photo from today was when Jordan climbed into Ken's lap so spend time with him.  She was getting really tired, but the picture was cute.
