Conference Weekend

One of the more "fun" things about teaching is the conferences that I get to attend.  My latest adventure was simply a site meeting in the Southern California area.  I spent a day listening to some of the changes that were happening, etc.  At the end of the day, it was too late for me to try to head home, so I had a hotel room.

Now, while I'm not completely in love with Orange County (or the Orange Curtain, as I still refer to it), there are many wonderful things that I like about it such as Disneyland!!!

Our son, Sean, drove Ken down to me in Costa Mesa so that we wouldn't have two vehicles to contend with. (Ken had already dropped the girls to their dad, so we were "child-free" for the weekend.)  I did some work and then Ken and I headed to Downtown Disney for supper and a drink.

We settled on Tortilla Joe's for supper, and just when the waiter brought us our drinks, the fireworks show began.  It was so amazing!!

It was beautiful, and just like every other time I'm at Disneyland, I felt like I was a kid again.  The major difference is that I was in the company of the most incredible man - ever!  Therefore, not only did I feel that anything is possible in life again, but that things were perfect between me and my "Prince Charming."

I love that Ken loves to travel and do things as much as I do.  Something so simple as getting together and going to Downtown Disney was amazing.  We walked around, and I did a little shopping of course.  I love that Disney has all of the Alice in Wonderland items, and I adored the honey spoons!

We enjoyed a very lazy morning - we didn't wake up until after 10 am!  We had breakfast in Irvine and then looked around at a cigar lounge we spotted.  It was a wonderful place and the owner was very gracious.  From there, we went to Riverside Archery so I could get some arrows and then over to Bass Pro to get some projectiles for Ken's reloading bench.  I happened upon some really great hot sauces that are still making me giggle:

And because we were in the area, Ken and I just HAD to go to Total Wine in Victoria Gardens where we picked up the last two Onyx Reserve Toros and some Bourbon and Tequila that our cabinet needed.

Saturday night, we played cards with Sean and Brian (who decided to grace us with his presence for a short time).  Ken and I partnered against the boys, but they kicked our asses in Canasta.  Apparently, I am able to play that game so long as I'm not playing against Ken.  LOL  Nothing was thrown this time, and I had a great time.

On a side note - Brian is still working within his mother's crap and ideals, so he only comes over when he truly wants to escape her house.  Mike, the new husband, is just as creepy as ever, and even Brian can't take it very much.  While we love having him come over, he insists that our house be handled his way, and he just does not understand that we have our house and our style, it's not changed nor will it change, and he used to love it over here. We'll see what the future holds.

The girls were delivered back late by their father.  The fact that it was a school night did not matter to him, nor was common decency of letting me know they would be late.  Ugh!  They were able to get school supplies, so that was really great.  I'm so glad that he finally helped out with something!

Ken and I were finally able to enjoy our Onyx and a drink last night.  Everything was excellent!  Now, if we could just figure out what the hell is up with our weather?!
