Another Week Goes By

For those of you who know me, I am a control freak. I like things organized, and I have to be on a schedule in my regular days. Well, I am NOT in control with this hand problem, and I am at the mercy of the doctor and the physical therapy staff's schedules. I am also not able to get my work done like I should be able to which makes me feel like a horrible employee.  It has been frustrating for me on many levels, and I actually snapped at Ken a bit during last week requiring me to quickly make amends and try to figure out what was wrong.

Brian came to visit us last week and he just left to return to Texas today. It was quite the issue with his mother again - first she sent us an email stating she couldn't afford the ticket, so he wasn't going to visit, and then we got an email that he was "bugging" her, so she scheduled it. Always something with her.

Even with clashing with three sisters, Brian seemed to enjoy himself. We didn't have the fun family time we normally do because I was still working and I am gimpy, but he still seemed to have fun. He and Justin got in an "Epi-Pen Trainer" war with each other. In all fairness, Ken did start this by taking one of the trainer pens and "stabbing" Justin with it. It was 21st century jousting of sorts.
Physical therapy started last week, and it actually is helping my hand to feel better.  Now, I think I just need to get them to start on the right hand since it's catching up in the pain level since I've been using the right hand the most. Ugh!  The best part of the therapy is, of course, the massage and then the heat wrap.  I giggle every time they have me dip my hand in the paraffin wax prior to the heat. They were cool with me asking to take a picture of what my hand looks like after the dips - I look like I'm a wax dummy on Hollywood Blvd!  Ha!
Ken and I went out to run some errands after we dropped Brian off at the mall to see his girlfriend, Savvy, and her friends. I have a difficult time understanding how she is his girlfriend when he hardly sees her and he's in a different state, but it seems to be working for them. While we were out, Ken found the perfect glass for my margaritas!! I definitely need some of these!
I tried my hand (literally just using the one hand) at jewelry making. I purchased the Swarovski crystals and other items from Fusion Beads and used the directions to create these:
Ken and I plan to give the girls the flower earrings on Easter, and then I couldn't resist these little Faeries to make for them as well since I was placing the order:
Taylor and Mandy used the rest of their report card money to get the ingredients they needed and wanted to make Easter Cake Pops. They had a great time being creative, and they did a great job working together.
Mama, on the other hand, had a very difficult time watching her kitchen get thrashed, but I held myself together and let the girls create rather than micro-manage the mess and Mandy even cleaned up after herself. Whew!
Ermanno and Michael came over to hang out with us for a little while on Saturday. When these three get together, they are usually huddled around a computer looking at gun porn - what reloading components are available, what ammo is available and where, what firearms, etc. I love that I secretly caught them hovering around the iPad gathering information.
Saturday night was spent at Ken's ex's house. She's been in town for a couple weeks, and she threw a BBQ for Sean's 22nd birthday. There were supposed to be a party for him, but almost none of his friends showed up. Sheryl made the request of Ken to take Brian over since she doesn't get her three sons together anymore. He was very, very nice and we had supper at her place and let her have time with her three boys. Neither of us mentioned that it was her choice to move, and it seemed to be a good call. I was impressed that this time Sheryl took a picture of Ken and me and actually posted it where we could see it and get a copy.
This week is the girls' Spring Break, and I hate that we're unable to go to Big Bear because of my physical therapy schedule. Hopefully, the girls will still have a great time.
