I had to travel for work - all the way south to Costa Mesa. I was not looking forward to two days of meetings and trainings that had very little to do with me, and I thoroughly loved that I was told to attend in order to "make friends."
The first night I arrived, I received a call from Gary Stiles - a good friend from high school - who was nearby, so I traveled back into the South Bay and we enjoyed a few beers and some great catching up since the Reunion. Sadly, I was horrible and didn't take a picture of us again. My co-workers laughed at me when they found out I didn't return to the hotel until 4:45 am and had to be at work by 9 am.
As far as my work, I spent the two days adding my pertinent input for Transition when necessary, and I made friends. I'm not sure how long some of them would choose to hang out with me if they didn't have to, but it was fun.
A few of us went to El Torito for supper and enjoyed food, conversation, and margaritas. Stacey almost crashed us on the way back to the hotel as she was distracted by the idea that we should try speed dating.
I was very fortunate that my new boss, Amber, allowed me to leave the training at lunch time in order to get home and avoid the massive Friday traffic.
In our virtual world, it's great when we can all get together, meet our co-workers, and get to know each other better. I had a great time, but I was very happy to get home.
Kasey,
ReplyDeleteWe all enjoyed your fun stories and company. We missed you at lunch today and a few asked where you were. I told them you were outta here. I am looking forward to working with you again this year. You are a wonderful person. ~Stacey
