The San Bernardino County Fair dates were changed this year. Usually, the Fair started the first weekend of May and went until Memorial Day weekend. This year, however, it was decided to be a "better idea" to have the Fair start Memorial Day weekend and go through June 3rd. So, there was no way that we could find the time to take the girls to the Fair this year with all of the end-of-the-school-year nightmare that happens. The worst part is that Taylor and Mandy had artwork on display that they completed in their after-school art class (yes, because art is no longer deemed important during school time). Ms. Suzie contacted me and told me that she had gone to the Fairgrounds and picked up the students' artwork, and she thought I would like to get theirs so they didn't have to wait until school started. I thanked her, and went by to pick up their art.
I could not believe what I saw! Ms. Suzie said she thought it was wonderful that they chose the same picture to replicate and they did so in their own ways. Both girls received a Participation Ribbon, and I knew they would be excited.
I love seeing these smiles!! There was a LOT of pre-teen girl laughter about having made the same picture, and then squeals of excitement over having a Participation Ribbon. They then started scheming about wanting to work harder next year and maybe win a Place Ribbon.
