Dave loves having the girls around, and he spent a ton of time showing them through the garden and explaining things to them. I was just there a few weeks ago, and I can't believe how much everything had grown! The last time I was there, the sunflowers were only at my waist. Now, they are far overhead!
The girls listened to Dave explain the difference between the plants and how to tell the different species apart. Of course, the girls could not wait to get to the cherry tree and they loved being able to pick the cherries right off the tree and eat them! I am glad that he had them go easy on the pickings or they would have been sick to their stomachs.
We took the girls home and let them finish their chores and then we went to Oggi's where Michael Gallagher really wanted to try. He hadn't been there, but he read about an award-winning beer, and he really wanted to try it.
Michael is living with Dave and Jonna for a while until he is able to purchase a house up here. It took 5 years, but his divorce is final and the property is finally dealt with. All 5 of us went out to celebrate with him!
The beer that Michael wanted to try was a bit darker than I would usually drink, but I had to give it a try especially given the name and background: Alyssa's Attitude - based off the guys' teenage daughter; "On May 5, Richey won a silver medal at the World Beer Cup in San Diego, for his English-style Mild Ale, Alyssa’s Attitude. (The beer is named after his teenage daughter: “Up front it’s bitter, but in the end, it turns sweet.”)"
It turned out to be a really great beer, and our table of 5 drank 3 pitchers of it, AND Michael and Ken (and me) took some home. I did not know you could get some bottle to go from Oggi's, but I'm glad to know that now!
Sadly, the picture of the guys holding our beer was snapped AFTER Michael kissed Ken again. I was very bummed, but it was great to see Dave and Jonna's faces when Michael planted a big, sloppy kiss on Ken's cheek. We're used to it, but they weren't. Ha!
It was a really warm day, and it was difficult being outside, but it was a ton of fun spending it with friends. I had gotten some stitching done yesterday, and I'm happy to report that the flip-flops themselves are done - now to finish the "Welcome."
I also really love one of my purchases - a Keep Calm and Stitch On FOB for my threader which I can never seem to find in my mesh bag for stitching accessories. I have never truly liked a FOB that I see, but this one, I had to have. Kathy at Designs by Lisa was kind enough to let me special order mine, so I got it exactly how I wanted.
