Del Mar Beach

We were finally heading to the beach for our annual holiday.  We had a great time this year at Del Mar Beach on Camp Pendleton.

While I made a book for our wall, I thought I would highlight some of the fun parts and post pictures here.   For the book you can click this link, and it will take you to the book that we have in our home.

When we arrived, we didn't know what to expect.  We had never stayed here before, but we wanted to try Del Mar because the villas are right....on....the....beach, and because the quality of the beach was nicer.  The Del Mar beach has apparently become the MCCS baby because they have done a ton of renovations - which increased the cost of course - and they have a ton of the extra amenities that San Onofre didn't have such as equipment rental, a kid's jetty, etc.  This year, our plans were changed a little bit because Ken's dad decided that he was going to come join us.

So, rather than getting the Deluxe villa right on the beach, we got the 3 bedroom trailer across the parking lot.  When we arrived, we were happy with what we saw.  The girls were ready to throw Grandpa under the bus and demanded the villa, but I was happy that everyone was going to have their own space.

Ken and the girls unloaded the truck while I handled the unpacking again.  Another really cool feature of the Del Mar side is that we didn't have to do all of the cleaning upon check out - SCORE!  That was the part that I hated the most, but I didn't mind since it didn't cost us much to stay there.  Not having to do all of the wiping down, sweeping and mopping of the floors was a great plus for this trip.  Once we were settled in, we looked around the trailer to see what we had. The kitchen cabinet space was smaller than we were used to, but there was an armoire in the hallway that helped out.  The best part was when we saw the sticker showing where this trailer had come from.
Where are beach home originated.  Hahaha!

Nice wide hallways and doorways.  No more cramming

We took the girls for a walk on the beach and enjoyed winding down. Had we known it was going to be the only day of sun, we would have let the girls play in the water and joined them.  The day was beautiful and we were totally stoaked about the week!

Of course, the sun did not come out to play until we were packing to leave for home.  Haha!  Ken and I blamed Dad for bringing his Buffalo weather with him, which he took in good stride.  The girls LOVED having Grandpa with us again for a week.  They felt like they were the most special girls on the planet that Grandpa would choose to fly all the way across the continent to hang out with them.  Given my sarcastic nature, I think Dad is going to need therapy, but he survived.

Overall, we had a great week.  We BBQ's, roasted the hot dogs, made S'mores, and the girls enjoyed the water.  We took Dad to see the tide pools at San Onofre so he could check out the marine life.  Most of all, the adults relaxed and visited, and the girls kicked off their summer holiday! We're looking to returning to Del Mar next summer.
