Jordan turns 7

It's hard to believe, but our baby has turned 7 over the weekend.  When Ken and I met, she was only 3, and Taylor was 7.  Wow - time goes so quickly!

Jordan absolutely loved that it was all about her.  Of course, she milked it for all it was worth from everyone who came into contact with her, and her celebration started on Friday.  I took all of the girls to see Hop on opening day.  We have never been to a movie on opening day, but not only was it Jordan's birthday celebration, but my friend, Jeff Wells, was a supervisor of one of the animation crew.  When the movie was over, the girls and all other children in the theatre were clapping, and then we sat back down to wait to see Jeff's name in the credits.  Once we found his name, Taylor and Mandy were jumping up and down in the aisle screaming, "There he is! That's our friend!"  Ironically, the lady who sat behind us with the kid who kicked my seat the entire movie was upset that the girls were jumping up and down in front of her during the credits.  Jordan looked at her, rolled her eyes and said, "You're just jealous because your friend didn't make this cool movie."
Great marketing!

It took a while to get a picture in front of the poster.  Thanks to Jeff, we now have this poster and it's autographed!
The girls could not wait.  We got our seats, and they waited and waited for the movie to begin.  Once it did, the girls were hooked on the movie.  All of the children in the theatre had a great time with this movie.  Every child wanted to be on Easter Island so they could live in the candy factory.  Sadly, I may never look at jelly beans the same way after learning that the Easter Bunny poops them out.

After the movie, Jordan waited - very impatiently - for her friend Leena to arrive for the slumber party.  Leena's mom, Cynthia, is a long-time friend of mine and she braved the Friday Vegas Traffic to get to my house.  Lucky for me, Cyn just had to stay the night as well, so I got a slumber party as well.  Yay!  I had gotten my hair done earlier today, so Jordan was so glad that I would look "extra" pretty for our night out.

Once Cyn and Leena were settled in the house, we took off for supper at Nikki's Cafe here in Apple Valley.  The girls had a blast and were anything but quiet during supper.  Luckily, the other patrons were understanding.  Leena made sure that our waitress knew that it was Jordan's birthday, and then she made sure that Jordan promised her part of her surprise when she got it.  Yes, these two are working the system early.
So cute that they were holding hands

Jordan was trying not to look excited about being "embarrassed" about her birthday.  Yeah, like everyone there didn't already know it was her birthday.

And they chatted like the long-time friends that they are.  HeeHee
Cyn and I loved being able to catch up over supper while the girls were in total giggle mode.  For those who read my blog on a regular basis, you'll remember that Cyn is the one who broke her back this last New Year's Eve.  I'm happy to report that she's doing amazingly well.  I could not get over how well she's walking even from the last time I saw her.

When we got back to the house, we found Taylor, Mandy and Daniel playing together.  Daniel is Cyn's youngest, and he is completely in love with Taylor.  When he learned that his Mama and sister were coming to see us, he said he HAD to go to so he could see his Taylor.  His crush is absolutely adorable!

Jordan opened her gifts once we were home.  It took a while to get to the gifts since she and Leena had to pose and model everything prior.  She finally opened the gifts and loved the new clothes and the new Leapster game that she got.  Jordan also loved the hand made cards her sisters made for her, and she squealed with delight over each of them.

By the time that we were done with gifts, it was way too late to have cake and ice-cream.  The adults were tired, and the children were hyped up from just seeing each other.  I had all of the kids get their blankets and sleeping bags to spread on the floor and we settled in to watch Jordan's movie choice.  None other than Burlesque.  Yes, this was the movie of the weekend and we watched it a total of 3 times.  Jordan and Leena would dance the moves during and after the movie for us to enjoy.

We were finally able to get the children to sleep.  It took a while, and Daniel would not leave his woman's side until he missed his Mama too much.

Everything has to be perfect before they could settle in

Even Addie wanted in on the party

The next morning, we adults sucked on coffee trying to wake up and get human.  It took quite a long time, but it worked out well as Sean and Brian came over for Jordan's birthday.  Sean brought his friend, Samantha, whom Ken and I adore.  Jordan was so excited that two of her brothers not only remembered but brought her gifts that she was besides herself.  Brian brought Jordan balloons attached to a stuffed animal and Sean brought her the Cat in the Hat movie.
Jordan and Leena love to share clothes.  Jordan loved Leena's newest dress

And everyone stopped what they were doing when the food came out

The spread
We cooked hamburgers and hot dogs and put out a spread of fruits, veggies, potato salad.  Everyone had a great time eating and enjoying the company.  The girls were squealing and giggling the entire day as they ran in and out of the house.  We rushed cleaning up so that we could have the cake and let Cyn get back on the road to head home, but not before Ken and Sean gave Jordan some birthday spankings.

Jordan loved her cake, and thoroughly enjoyed the attention during the singing of Happy Birthday.

And she's really 7 now

We had to say goodbye to Cyn and the kids, but Sean, Samantha and Brian stayed a while longer. Jordan was able to watch her new movie with everyone, and play on the Kinect, and then we got ready to go down the hill for our last hockey game of the season.  Jordan could not believe that she was going to a hockey game for her birthday.  She thought this was just perfect.

Once we got to the arena, Jordan was completely hyped up with excitement.  To make things even more (in her mind) about her, the Reign scored two goals in the first minute and 15 seconds of the game.  Jordan was literally jumping up and down screaming, "They scored for my birthday!"  Jordan was so excited that she was finally able to get a picture with the Dragon, but we were never able to get a picture with the Knight or the Crazy Fan, Cameron.

And the Reign started losing here as you can see by the sad looks on their faces

Sadly, the Reign lost their last game 6 - 4.  They did really well in the first period and then they choked.  As is our tradition, we went to Hooters after the game.  Jordan was so excited!!  She made sure that everyone knew it was her birthday.

We had to get Ken's picture with the waitress again, especially since this was the same waitress from when we went with Dad.  Ken's waving at Dad, "We miss you!"
The girls were asleep before we were back on the freeway heading home.  Jordan had a great celebration of herself and kept saying that this was the "best ever".  I love that she always thinks it's the best she's ever had, and apparently, Ken and I can keep topping it for her.  Ken spent the entire weekend in disbelief that Jordan is truly 7.  Where had the time gone??  Happy Birthday my baby girl!
