Well, they were slowly getting things done, but they decided to fight, and this time, it required an emergency room visit for Mandy.
Now, Mandy has had a staple in her head from Taylor hitting her with a shoe, and Mandy has had glue under an eye from Taylor hitting her with a plastic dollhouse. She can now add stitches to her dossier due to being pushed through glass. While Mandy is never innocent in these fights, I can tell you that my heart stops each time, and I cannot figure out what makes them fight like this.
So, it was only 5 minutes where Ken and I had gone to the bedroom to discuss a Christmas matter, and then we hear the yelling, glass break and a scream. We rushed out and saw Mandy standing up, crying, and Taylor and Jordan are screaming because they were scared. I checked Mandy's back immediately and was happy to see that there were no tears in her shirt. I pulled up her shirt and then saw the blood freely flowing. Ken was busy getting the glass up off the floor, so I took Mandy into my bathroom to take a look at the wound. I applied a towel to try to stop the bleeding, but it wasn't working. The cut looked too deep for a butterfly band-aid, so I got her in the car and we headed to the hospital. (I had already learned that their pediatrician won't do stitches, so there was no point in calling them.)
I make it a point not to go anywhere in my pajamas. There are plenty of people in the High Desert who feel that it is perfectly acceptable. As the girls had the day off, and I didn't have to work, I was still in my PJs, and I hadn't showered. However, the only thing I did was take the time to put on a bra - which is more than most women here will do. However, I was self-conscious about it the entire time I was in the ER.
Mandy was seen quickly, and I was happy to see that the bleeding had stopped while on the way to the ER. The doctor saw her and determined that some stitches were needed, and I have to say that I was very proud of Mandy - she didn't flinch the entire time. She was crying because the Lidocaine didn't work as quickly as the doctor hoped and he had to stick her for a 2nd round, but she was a total trooper for the ordeal.

And here are her stitches. |
For only 3 stitches, there was a ton of items that were necessary. It looked like she had had major surgery completed in that hallway.

It takes this much stuff for 3 stitches???? |
And, of course, as we were leaving the ER, I saw a former student and had to converse about things while in my PAJAMAS! Why is it I can never run into people when I'm in full make-up and dressed well????
Mandy enjoyed supper out with Mama and then we ran the errands to get all of the holiday shopping done so Ken and I could spend Wednesday baking for Thanksgiving. I had a panic attack when it was all over, but she's been healing really well.
