A few weeks before the girls got out of school, I received a notice informing me that the School Board decided to alter the calendar for the 2010/2011 school year. My reaction was very loud and very foul as I noticed that the District decided to go with a more "Traditional" calendar. That meant, more summer - THIS SUMMER! Holy crap! I only had 3 1/2 weeks to plan for an additional 5 weeks with the girls. Let us not forget that I was scheduling a surgery that has taken me out of commission right in the middle of this fun. Ugh!
So, I posted the Summer Schedule on their door. Every weekday, they are to follow the schedule because structure will take care of the problems. Right?! Ummmm, No!
The girls have decided that they do not need to follow a schedule nor do they think they should follow rules any more. They are fighting like they are on the WWE Diva Night on an almost daily basis. Earning free time and outings is not appealing to them this year. Needless to say, Ken and I are at our ends and there's still 4 more weeks to go. We've tried everything, but it's coming down to a battle of wills.
However! In the midst of all of this frustration comes comedy - provided by Jordan, of course. She was in the room with her sisters, fighting and arguing with her. Taylor and Mandy had decided to gang up on Jordan this afternoon (they take turns who will be the Subject). Jordan was whining to the point that she sounded like Beaker from the Muppets and then only the neighbors' dogs could hear her.
I called her into my office and told her that she was tired and crabby, and I was tired of listening to her. She stood next to my chair, fists clenched and threw a literal temper tantrum. "I am NOT tired! I am NOT crabby, Mama!" Rather than deal with this, I told Jordan to lay on the bed. She threw herself onto the bed and pulled the pillow around her head. "I can't hear you now, Mama!" I went on "plan ignore" status and went back to my work.
Suddenly, I realized that I didn't hear her huffing and puffing her discontent. When I turned around, this is what I saw:
Her grip on the pillow was more relaxed, but she was sound asleep in her tantrum mode. Hahahahahaha! Being the ever-loving mother that I am, I just HAD to take a picture and share it with everyone! I love irony - especially when it's in my favor. As you can see, Jordan was NOT tired!
