Busy day!

On Friday, I was offered a part-time teaching position with a virtual charter school to focus on 11th and 12th grade Special Ed students for their Transition.  I not only love this opportunity, I love that it's going to allow me to make the bills while staying home.  Awesome!  California is far behind in getting up to speed within Special Education, so I'm really excited that some schools are finally creating Transitional Specialist positions.   I found some great furniture on Craig's List - a guy had bought a load from an old barracks, and it totally worked for my needs:  desk, end table and chair for $20!

I was able to spend the day with friends yesterday.  One of my former students, Christina, hung out with us overnight.  She is entering her senior year and has overcome so very many obstacles in life.  I could not be more proud of her, and I love that she and her family are in our lives.  It was wonderful to spend time with her and catch up on her life. Christina and Sean attempted to help Jordan pull out a tooth using dental floss and the door.  The tooth is still in her head, but it was fun to watch!

We watched Monsters, Inc. together and enjoyed our pizza and candy, and then we played KoehlerLand together.

The girls went and had their first overnight visit with their dad in 3 1/2 years.  I did everything I could not to be concerned or preoccupied with their safety, but the girls assured me that they would use the cell phone Ken provided if necessary.

Ken and I continued to enjoy time with Christina.  She is a great young lady. Ken spent some time teaching her to play Canasta, so we can all play the next time she comes over.

After taking her back to her aunt's house, Ken and I headed over to Lisa and Stephan's for their Floors and Doors party.   Lisa provided me with their computer chair so I could roll around and relax.  Because my stomach still hurts when I get riled up, I chose not to play poker with everyone.  Ken and I had a great time.  Lisa is an amazing hostess and there was nothing left out of their get together.

I had such a great time helping everyone out with Trivial Pursuit.  I am more intelligent than I thought!  LOL

Normally, I would have been at this table.  Stupid surgery.
Today, I was extremely tired.  I have no doubt that staying at Lisa's until after midnight created the exhaustion.  I didn't wake up until 10 am this morning, and I was back in bed by 10:30 until 1600.  Wow!  Having a good time a week after surgery is going to be slow going.
