The girls could NOT wait for Ken to wake up so they could climb into bed and say good morning and Happy Father's Day to Ken. He loves every second of the adoration, but he could not lay in bed long enough for the girls to figure out who was going to do what in the breakfast preparation.
Sean helped out and breakfast was served while Ken was still in jammies. It was a lot of fun for them to have done everything themselves.
The girls had earned money from their wonderful report cards, and they spent almost all of it to get additional gifts for Ken. They each bought him a card and they combined their money to get him a new movie. Sean's card thoroughly touched Ken's heart as did the box of Hot Tamales for movie night.
Mama got Daddy the bigger gifts that he wanted: a new spotting scope and a teflon rifle bore cleaning rod. Sadly, the mount for the scope's tripod doesn't work right, but I'll fix that later this week.
The day was spent doing whatever Ken wanted to do. Brian came over and stayed for most of the afternoon and evening, and Ken loved having two of his sons here. The kids played, and Ken played with them. He got the kids playing Ghost in the Graveyard while he and I enjoyed a cigar. It was cool enough that we even used the fire pit.
Sean and the girls love Ken so very much. I love that Sean has finally figured out how special his father is, and I adore the fact that the girls understand that Ken chose them. I am truly blessed to have this wonderful man in my life, and I hope that I can honor him as much as he honors me.
