What an ending to the week!

What is it with Jordan and being sick.  Once again, she has had an unexplainable fever, and this time, her eyes got puffy and oozed with whatever infection she was fighting.  The doctors cannot explain it, and yet the dentist keeps telling me to have her tonsils checked out since they are the largest tonsils he's ever seen on a child.  The doctors, however, won't even acknowledge that Jordan's tonsils are bad.  Ugh!  So, for the 5th month in a row, Jordan got sick for a few days.

Through it all, there is always the one argument that makes me laugh.  Jordan will insist that she's not tired, and she will usually have a ton of energy even with being sick.  On Friday, however, she lost the argument with her own body.

Jordan begrudgingly stomped off to her bed screaming that she wasn't tired, and I waited an entire 2 1/2 minutes before finding this:

Nope, she wasn't tired!  She slept for almost 5 hours!

Saturday brought Sean home to stay for the holiday weekend.  It's been really great having him home, and he has decided that he wants to stay here for the summer after his freshman year at college is over.  To say that Ken is excited that his oldest is wanting to have a relationship again is an understatement.  Sean seems to understand why I'm skeptical.  I've explained that he's my son and I love him, but as many of you know, the trust is not strong.  The boys have caused Ken a lot of pain with their mother, which has hurt me horribly.  Sean went off to college and seems to have sorted it out, and I truly hope that he will work to patch things up with his father.

There's no doubt that Ken is the most amazing man in the world.  He accepts people for who they are, and never demands constant penance to prove they are sorry. He is quick to forgive and usually always forgets what was done to harm him (I blame the brain cancer, but I think he would be like that anyway).  He has missed his sons horribly and hates what has happened to them, but he accepts that he would rather be here for them when they come around than fight with their mother and have the stress tear him down and have the Cancer win.

Sean's presence in our house completely thrills the girls as well.  He's a great big brother to them, and they always argue that he and his brothers are "real" brothers since Ken is better than a "real" dad.  It's great to see how they look up to Sean, and every time he has come home, the girls start to focus on when they can go to college.  Sean has an amazing heart and desire to make his way in the world.  While I'm sure that he'll find his way, I just hope it's soon - for his sake.

Our family is looking forward to Memorial Day.  We have my Opa, George Hallet Weiss, and my wonderful Ken to thank for their service to our Country and to us.  We will celebrate with friends at our house tomorrow.  For today, Sunday, we will spend the time as family and then finish cleaning this house.  I know that a freak tornado came through California, and it seemed to only affect my living room.  Ha!
