An early Mother's Day

Ken and I will be leaving to go to New York on Tuesday, and we will be gone during Mother's Day.  So, we  decided to have Mother's Day early.  The girls started by making me breakfast, bringing me coffee and orange juice and letting me have some peace and quiet while I showered.  Whoo-hoo!

After having breakfast and getting cleaned up, the girls gave me their gifts.  The cards were priceless:

I kept saying that this should have Jordan's picture on the card.  Each of the girls agreed!  Ken's card was perfect!

The girls and Ken took a lot of time to make me a digital scrapbook of my own:

I can attest to the fact that there is not one book in this house that has this many pictures of me in it.  I'm not one for being in front of the camera, but it is great that the girls and Ken took the time to make it for me.

Ken spoiled me with two bottles of my aunt's wine; Dead Fred and the Chesler bottle.  I am looking forward to having them.

Jordan is ever the ham when a camera is out:

After we were done with the gifts, Sean came back over and we headed to see Clash of the Titans.  I absolutely love the original - hokey and all.

On the way to the theater, Sean asked for some chapstick.  No one had any available, but I had my glittery lip gloss.  He didn't mind, and he used it.  Mandy managed to get this picture after he had applied the Beach Bronze lip gloss:

This movie was a good remake, and I was pleased to see the silly owl from the first movie had a cameo appearance in this one.

The girls really enjoyed the movie.  I thought that parts of it would have been too scary, but they were literally on the edge of their seats for most of it.  I liked that this remake was different from the original.  While I knew the original movie by heart, I was surprised by the differences - especially in special effects.

We headed home and since we were in the truck, we took a short cut through over the dirt roads.  I made Ken stop the truck when I saw a flock of sheep in the brush.  I couldn't believe it!  I had never seen or heard of this in Apple Valley, so I had to get out and check it out.  The sheep and lambs were very skittish when I walked over, but a couple of the lambs wants to check me out.

This one was running towards me and then stopped just short of being in front of me
This one was more cautious about checking me out
These two were curious about me and very trusting, and I sadly missed the shot of them nuzzling
Again, these sheep did not mind me being close, but they had an idea of the distance for me to keep away

When we got home, we had a late lunch/early supper.  The girls fell asleep and took naps.  Ken put up some new shelving in my dining area.  The hooks that I had originally used to hold up the digital scrapbooks wasn't holding the larger ones from the top, so we had to use stick pins to hold the tops of the books, and there just wasn't enough room on the wall with the way they had been put up.

Ken came up with a clever idea, and he worked hard to get the shelves up.  I helped to figure out the spacing and helped to line the shelves up as well as leveling.  I think it came out really well.  It's amazing to see how many books I've made in the last year.  Again, this doesn't adequately represent everything has been made as there are posters, games, playing cards, greeting cards, etc. all over the house.

This is way more inviting for people to peruse our lives!
And yes, we got the picture with Trace up finally

Ken and I relaxed watching a movie while the girls napped.  When they woke up, they said that they wanted to go for a bike ride.  Ken hooked up the Trailer bike for Jordan while Taylor and Mandy practiced in front of the house.

Jordan loved the Trail-a-bike. Ken said that she did most of the pedaling on the trip!
We stopped for ice-cream sandwiches which made the ride more special for the girls

We went around the neighborhood and then headed towards Stater Bros. across from the high school.  I was very impressed with how well Taylor and Mandy did on their bikes.  Mandy had a couple really good spills, but she still got up and kept riding.  Being the "girlie" one, I thought she would quit, but she kept going.

The girls enjoyed their ice-cream sandwiches and shared some water.  As we were getting ready to leave, a fight broke out in the parking lot.  Ken and I were able to get the girls against the wall, and the fight stopped prior to our location, but it was not a good feeling to be out with the girls when it happened.

All in all, it was a great day with the girls and a wonderful Mother's Day.  The girls were tired from the bike ride, so they crashed pretty quickly after getting home.  Ken and I wrapped up the evening by opening the bottle of Dead Fred to enjoy on the back patio with a cigar.
