Veteran's Day

Today was all about Ken.  Justin and Brian came over and spent the day with their dad, and the girls loved hanging out with Ken.

We started the morning with a scrumptious breakfast that Ken insisted on making, and then Ken took the boys and went to the Traveling Vietnam Wall to see his uncle's name.  Ken had received an email that had a copy of his uncle's awarding of the Silver Star (posthumously), but Ken had not seen the Wall itself.  We were really happy to see that there was a posting from Uncle David's squad leader telling how brave and amazing David was during his short service in the Corps.

When Ken got home, he enjoyed a movie with the kids and then we got busy on supper.  I made a German Chocolate Cake for him to enjoy since it's his favorite.  Ken received many emails and posts on Facebook thanking him for his service.   It's a great moment for me to know that I can celebrate him - and I hope there's many more to come.  We had a quiet day as Ken wanted.  He didn't feel like driving around to partake of all the freebies that are offered to Veteran's around town.  (Ken says he realizes why it's only once a year, but he thinks that he should get "rewards" from businesses more than just once per year.)  We were glad to snuggle with him and enjoy the time with him.
